Taking the family to new places is a great way to learn about your area, history, something new, and foster socialization. One of my favorite places to go is the San Diego Botanic Garden. I’ll be honest; I’ve only been to the areas with food growing in it.
O was interested in Dragon Fruit ad they have a giant DF at the Garden – that was the IN! On top of that, they have the Insect Festival and we ATE BUGS!!! What kiddo wouldn’t want to go see cool things, eat things, and have fun? I’m telling you, the meal worms taste just like ranch dressing – if that is the flavor you eat, at least.
Right now, membership for Active Duty families is being underwritten by a benefactor of the Garden. Even if you are not military, the first Tuesday of every month is FREE, so you can at least give it a look before committing any money. This hasn't been updated but it is through the entirety of 2015.
I volunteered there today and there lots of bird watchers there. It seems even birds out of the area like our Garden and we even have blue ladybugs!
